Hoiho are an endangered taonga species (listed in the Ngāi Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998) endemic to southern NZ and their population has seen a decline of 70% since 2008. To help their survival, birds are now intensively managed, and interventions undertaken when required (e.g. treatment of disease, supplementary feeding).
The Trust believes that this urgent and intense action is required for hoiho conservation, and your donation goes toward ensuring the future of this species on mainland Aotearoa.
Thank you for making a donation to help the hoiho.
