NHNZ creates better habitat for yeps

For the fourth year running, staff from NHNZ (a major global producer of factual television) have planted native trees at Okia Reserve in support of the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust.

On Friday 20 July, a team of 17 pitched in to enhance penguin nesting opportunities. Head of Corporate Services, Tim Mepham, said, “We see it as an important part of our company’s contribution to help the local community improve native biodiversity, and of course we are delighted to be able to help the trust which makes such a huge contribution to our local ecosystems. The planting mission also helps offset the company’s carbon footprint, and is a wonderful team-building opportunity – it’s quite a tough slog, going from the desk to digging for four hours, but we always have fun.”

The planting this year was on the north-end dunes of Okia, between two existing penguin nesting sites.
