Dogged discussions over marine wildlife

Animal lovers Jordana Whyte (left), of the Yellow Eyed Penguin Trust, with Eileen Mann and dog Elliott, walk on John Wilson Ocean Dr in Dunedin yesterday after a Department of Conservation event to raise awareness about appropriate dog owner/dog behaviour around marine wildlife.

Doc ranger Simon Alefosio-Tuck said rangers, animal control staff, some students working on a wildlife location app for Doc and representatives from the trust offered dog owners breakfast on John Wilson Ocean Dr while chatting to them about appropriate behaviour around marine wildlife, which was more likely to come up on to beaches and tracks at this time of year.
