Celebrating 30 years of the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust

In 1987 Dunedin conservationists formed the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust with the aim of saving the penguin by restoring coastal forest and controlling predators. The 20th of October marked the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Trust deed, and we celebrated this special anniversary, along with the release of our Oral History Project, on Friday 27th October with sponsors and supporters.

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate our 30th anniversary and launch of our Oral History Project. We truly appreciate the support and wishes of congratulations from those who could and couldn’t attend.

YEPT’s founding trustees sign the original constitution on 20th of October 1987. Left to right: Lala Frazer , Warren Hurley, Moira Parker, Christine Johnston and John Darby. Seated: Bill Armitage (Downie Stewart lawyer) and Paul Every. Absent: Lyn Dowsett and Euan Kennedy.
