sketch of penguin feeding its chickYellow-eyed penguins can travel up to 15 km from shore to feeding grounds and are believed to feed mainly at the edge of the Continental Shelf.

They may travel up to 30km daily.

They have been found in fishing nets set at 100m depth.

Food consists of 6 main species of fish: Red Cod, Opal Fish, sprat, Silversides, Ahuru and Blue Cod. They also eat squid.
