Posted on September 15th, 2009 No comments
Volunteers from the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust teamed up with Cartridge World at eDay, on Saturday 12 September 2009, collecting printer cartridges for recycling or re-filling. Dunedin residents supplied 36 tonnes of waste, with 621 cars going through the waste collection site at Fryatt Street between 9am and 3pm.Dunedin based Cartridge World is proud to support the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust by giving reward points to the Trust for the printer cartridges that were returned during the day. The Trust will receive 308 reward points, (each worth $1) which can be redeemed for office consumables or petrol vouchers.
Graeme and Maxine Cochrane, owners of Cartridge World were pleased with the number of cartridges returned and were amazed at the number of volunteers who turned up from the Trust to help, alongside their son Mitchell, who also helped on the day.
Sue Murray, General Manager of the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust said “the relationship with Cartridge World is an exciting new development and the Trust is thrilled to be involved with Cartridge World and the event. A big thank you to the volunteers who helped out, we really value your support”.

A reward points scheme is currently running in Dunedin and Invercargill Cartridge World branches, where points collected from returned printer cartridges are provided to the Trust. Points can be re-deemed toward petrol vouchers for Trust vehicles or office and stationery supplies, thus reducing Trust expenditure on these items. Each reward point is worth $1 so if you live in these areas please remember to take your printer cartridges to Cartridge World and remember to mention the reward scheme.
Any organisations or individuals that would like to support the Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust or get involved can contact the Trust directly on Ph 03 479 0011 or click here to see how you can get involved.
